Hi,
It seems that this plugin is exactly what I need but I do not know how to work with it. The plugin it is installed, hosting company made the changes requested. The permalink under title while writing a post/page looks fine, but after publishing I get a “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” while trying to acces category or page. any ideas ?
Thank you!
Hi Alice, could you post a link to the site so I could take a look for you? You could send it via the Contact page if you don’t want to publicly share it 🙂
Hi Dempsey,
Great Work as always … It works now with Tags, BUT … ( 😉 )
When I call a second page (“older postings”) (eg http://www.domain.tld/page/3) (no matter if I am in a category or not), Firefox shows me this error-message:
Redirect Loop
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for
this address in a way that will never complete.
The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The
site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.
* Have you disabled or blocked cookies required by this site?
* NOTE: If accepting the site’s cookies does not resolve the
problem, it is likely a server configuration issue and not your
computer.
(Same as on IE).
I’ve disabled all other plugins, but the error remains.
Also interesting, if I call the next page (“older postings”) of a cateogry eg. http://category.domain.tld wordpress shows me the second page of all postings (“http://www.domain.tld/page/2”)
Thank you and …
kind regards from Vienna
Andreas.
Ah ok, I’ll take a look at that then 🙂
Trying to get this working with wordpress 2.5.1 but it shows the wrong category as the subdomain – plugin needs updating ?
Are you using multiple categories for the posts?
hi, can someone help me, wordpress 2.5 gallery not showing image when i use this plugin, how to solve it ?
Are you using a gallery plugin do you mean?
Hi I’ve installed wp 2.6 and the plugin activates and can create subdomains but when you choose to assign a different theme to category an error message appears “cannot load subster rejuv…php” this message also appears when the link is clicked to Edit Theme Options. I’ve installed Category Themes plugin by Mike Lopez and that allows you to assign the theme and works with this plugin but would like to solve the problem anyway.
thanks
Leanne
Ah I’ll take a look at that now 🙂
Hi Demsey,
Thanks a billion for making the Subster work for 2.5!!
I had been waiting for this so I could upgrade to beyond WordPress 2.2.
Today, I’ve installed the plugin on WordPress 2.6. It works well except for two problems:
1. Problem with navigating to older / newer posts, both from the index page as well as the category pages. As reported by Andreas in one of the previous comments.
2. When I Edit a category and check the “Make sub domain†Checkbox, it wouldn’t save. I get the “category updated†message but when I go back to the edit mode for the same category, the checkbox is always unchecked. The corresponding database table “category_subdomains†wouldn’t get updated as well. But despite this, the categories function as subdomains. So, not sure if there is anything that needs to be fixed though.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks once again.
I’ll have another look at the pages issue.
The non-saving checkbox should be easy issue to fix as well. 🙂
1 – I just rememebered, there’s not a way to automatically fix this neither the original developer nor I could find, so you have to edit your templates and change two following two functions:
next_posts_link –> sd_next_posts_link and previous_posts_link –> sd_previous_posts_link
2 – the message saying not found is fixed in my latest dev copy now, checking out the other issue.
From the looks of thing, Dempsey, you are almost there. I am most anxious to try it out using WP 2.6 for a hosted site where I can have 20 subdomains and a total of ten MySQL databases of which 3 have been used.
Yours would be a sorely needed plugin in a somewhat saturated plugin-world. Sure hope you can make it bullet proof and keep monitoring its use. Thanks for all your efforts to date
Eb
Thanks ebweb 🙂
Hello…
Good Job but can u upgrade it? Its not work very well with WP 2.6
The main problem is when i have to open cat from this url: domain.com/category/catname
And then my browser can’t open page because there are redirection page1->page2->page1->page2…. and u know.
But when i want open domain.com/category/catname/subcatname its ok and redirect to catname.domain.com/subcatname
Fixed this now, it will be fixed in the next release 🙂
Please take a look at my site.
It is WP 2.5 and the subdomains works
But the TAGS are not work.
Please advice
i have try this
next_posts_link –> sd_next_posts_link and previous_posts_link –> sd_previous_posts_link
still not work
http://category.site.com/page/2/ redirecting to http://site.com/page/2/
and
http://site.com/page/2/ redirecting to http://site.com/page/2/
someone help pls
Hi Adam,
Thanks for your great work…
I’m still having the same problem as sapi and several others; I’m getting an infinitive redirect loop when I go to http://www.domain.com/page/2/ or http://www.domain.com/2008/08/.
Do you think it’s possible to update the plugin to avoid these errors?
I’ll PayPal you a donation if you can get the plugin to work error free. Send me an email if you would like to discuss this offer…
I’ll have another look and see if I can fix it!
Thanks for the 2.5 version. Just installed and will report any problems
i too am having this issue with the pages i tried the updated next and previous page codes as suggested and its not working im on wp 2.6.x
Thank you very much for the plugin.
But i have a problem about generating sitemaps. Once creating a sitemap, google doesnt accept them as a link. I have to create sitemaps for each category one by one. However when I added them, google doesnt accept again. Are there any fixes for this?
The download for Category-Subdomains plugin leads to another blog entry. 🙁 Infinite loop!
