Safari on Windows – Official!

For a while now I’ve been following the progress of a browser called Swift, which is attempting to make a port of the KHTML rendering engine to the Windows platform.

KHTML is the engine behind Konqueror on Linux platforms and Safari on OS X. At WWDC 2007, Apple announced it was releasing Safari for Windows! Great news for web developers using Windows, who can now test their sites using four rendering engines on one platform.

Firefox/Mozilla/Flock Gecko
Internet Explorer Trident
Opera Presto
Safari KHTML

I Downloaded Safari to have a quick look and either there are some big problems with my laptop, or it is a very early release. All of the menus had blank text and the default homepage of Apple.com was barely navigatable. But it is a very promsing start and I look forward to seeing future releases.
